WSI container transport company in Sydney explain why the Westconnex will be good for Sydney
21st September 2018

Here at WSI, our container transport company in Sydney understand the need to improve our infrastructure, sooner rather than later. As the biggest infrastructure project currently underway in Sydney the WestConnex is due to be completed in around 2023.

The NSW Government believe that the WestConnex should help to slash commute times for those living in Sydney's West.

What is the WestConnex? The WestConnex is a 33-kilometre motorway, which is currently under construction. It is aimed at connecting up two of Sydney's main motorways — the M4 in western Sydney and the M5 in south-western Sydney.

How much is it costing us? The project is currently sitting at a cost of $17billion. Not a price to be sneezed at. Commuters who use the new WestConnex will pay distance-based tolls, with a journey along the full length of the motorway capped at $7.95. However, the WestConnex has the potential to offer up to $1.88 in wider economic benefits

Why is it a positive move for Sydney infrastructure? Be connecting up two of Sydney's main motorways, the WestConnex will provide drivers with more direct access to the city and Port Botany or Sydney Airport. A sure positive for trucks! WestConnex should hopefully remove 10,000 trucks each day off Parramatta Road east of Concord.

Here at WSI, our freight operators are hoping to benefit from the opening of the WestConnex.
