WSI container transport company Sydney on the benefits of duplicating the Port Botany rail line
7th July 2017

With Port Botany set to become Australia’s largest container port by volume in the next 30 years, WSI transport and logistics providers know that plans need to be put in place quick smart if this things are to run efficiently into the future.

The duplication of the Port Botany rail line has been listed as a ‘high priority initiative’ in Infrastructure Australia’s Priority List since February 2016. Currently the NSW Government is exploring potential partnerships and funding arrangements with the Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC), the Australian Government and the private sector to progress the project.

Our experts in customs bond store services Sydney explain that the key benefits include:

  • Improving the efficiency of the rail connection to the port and providing capacity to meet future demand
  • Help reduce road congestion and ease pressure on the M5 corridor
  • Support existing intermodal terminals at Minto, Yennora, Chullora and Enfield, and future port shuttle operations from Moorebank to the port

The duplication of the line between Port Botany and Cooks River includes construction of a new track and duplication of three existing single track bridges (Robey Street, O’Riordan Street and Southern Cross Drive) as well as associated signalling.

With Sydney's port expanding yearly, the duplication of the Port Botany rail line can't come soon enough.
